Açai berry

Found in the amazon rainforest, açai is deep purple and sweet in flavour. They are packed with anthocyanins – an antioxidant which balances cholesterol levels, increases blood circulation, improves skin health and immune system. One study has proven that açai can help lose or maintain a healthy weight because its pulp can reduce fat deposits (1). It also promotes a healthy digestive system because of its high fibre content.

Goji berry

The Goji Berry is a small, bright orange-red berry with a bitter taste. It comes from the Lyceum shrub, native to China. Goji berries were originally eaten in Asia in the hope that they would lengthen life. They are a great source of Vitamin C and A, which help support your immune system. Some studies have shown that gojis enhance the effectiveness of flu vaccinations (2). It has also been found that the antioxidants in goji berries, especially zeaxanthin, is great for your eyes and skin. The fibre they contain also balances blood sugar levels and helps you control you weight.


Blueberries are navy blue have have a sweet taste. They are originally from North America and have only been domesticated since the 20th century. So what are the benefits? Well, blueberries are 84% water. This means they are not only hydrating, but are also a great way to satisfy your sweet tooth while watching your calories. Blueberries are also high in fibre which helps lower cholesterol and decrease the risk of heart disease. Raspberries are a deep red clump berry (if you didn’t already know…). It is known to taste like a sweeter cross between a red and green grape. Their health benefits are endless! They are a rich source of antioxidants and phytonutrients which work to fight disease. They are also a great source of manganese and Vitamin C which protect body tissue from oxygen-related damage – including reducing age spots and discolouration of the skin. Raspberries are also an efficient way to get riboflavin, niacin, folate, magnesium, potassium and copper. Despite their deliciously sweet taste, raspberries have a very small impact on your blood sugar level which is beneficial when trying to lose weight.

Montmorency cherry

The Montmorency cherry is also know as Tart Cherry. It is bright red and has a sour taste. The cherries were originally cultivated in Asia Minor, but are now grown in Canada, France and the US. They are great for your brain because of their high levels of antioxidants and anthocyanins. A study has also revealed them to help with insomnia (3) because they contain melatonin (promotes sleepiness) and tryptophan (an amino acid used to create melatonin). Tart cherries are also known to ease muscle pain. In one study, subjects who drank cherry juice immediately after an endurance run had 23% less pain than those that didn’t!
